Finding a Topic

What are your passions?

One of the best things about creating your own website is that it can be on whatever subject you want. Try not to look at this section as though it is hard work. There’s a world of choice out there and there are plenty of easy ways to drill down into the perfect niche for you.

Your topic needs to be based around either something you know and love or something you want to learn a lot about. The reason I say this is because this is your first venture into creating a website and making money from home. Therefore it will be your hardest, so if you’re doing it about something you love or are learning about, there’s more chance you’ll stay involved and succeed.

Getting Started

Your first exercise is to get a pen and paper and answer a few questions.

  • What are you interested in?
  • What are you passionate about
  • What subjects do you have a lot of knowledge on?
  • What do people ask you advice on?

Try and answer these questions specifically. Don’t just say you like TV, say what TV shows you’re into.

Don’t worry if you’re finding it difficult to answer these questions. It’s all about getting you into the right frame of mind. Try and observe things around you, like the magazines you read or websites you visit.
  • What did you study at school?
  • What sort of literature do you read?
  • Do you collect anything?
  • If you won the lottery what would you do?

Try and write down as many ideas you can, no matter how stupid you think they sound. It’s only going to be you reading this list so don’t be embarrassed.

Still Having Trouble?

It’s fine if you’re still finding it difficult to come up with something. When I was first getting into this I went through countless ideas that I started up with then didn’t like. All because I was too lazy to go through a simple list building process at the beginning.

I’m going to show you a fantastic resource for ideas where there is pretty much an endless supply of quality niches.

Here you will find the page below.

If you look down the left side you will see the menu bar. And on this bar are all the different topics that Dummies provide books for. So find one that looks interesting to you and click on it.

This then opens even more niches within that area which are more specific.

So for example, I click on Self Help and Relationships. Then I see a book on Body Language that looks pretty interesting. So I add it to my list. Try and do this a few times over.

In the
next section we look into the market opportunities for your chosen topics. And if they are going to be able to make money online.
