Building a Keyword
List
Keywords
Understanding keywords, what they are and how to build a list of them is incredibly important to success when it comes to making money online.
A keyword list is a list of keyword phrases related to your website and your website’s niche. Being able to build a good keyword list means you’ll end up building a good traffic stream. And the more traffic you have, the more money you make.
When people search for something they want on the web, they use keywords. For example, someone searching for info on body building will type in “body building”. They might also use variations of that phrase like “body building tips” or “body building help”. The sites that have these keywords in their content a decent amount of times (not too many, not too little) rank the highest in the search engines. They therefore get the most traffic and most money.
It’s your job to find the best keyword phrases to optimize your site for. You want to use the keywords that everyone is searching for.
Your list
To do this you need to build a keyword list. I use the free keyword tool at www.freekeywords.wordtracker.com. On this page you need to type in the keyword phrase that best describes your niche. (I’ve used “make money online” below).

You then want to copy and paste this list into a text file. But you’re not finished yet. You now want to open the page adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal. You then want to type in your keyword phrase again, like before.

Now though, you want to scroll down the list until you see the bold writing Additional keywords to be considered. This gives you all of the related keywords that don’t contain your actual phrase. Copy and paste these into your list.

Structure
That will be your site’s main keyword list. But you now need to make more, that will each correspond to the phrases you will use in your menu bar (see the section I’ve written on Your Site Structure). As you can see on this site, I have my menu bar down the left hand side with different phrases like “create a website”. I made keyword lists for all of these phrases individually. You should do the same.
